101 Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Applications

Description:
Author(s): Sean Campbell, Scott Swigart, Bob Carver
Publisher: MS Press
Year: 2003
ISBN: 0735618917
Language: English
File type: CHM
Pages: 561
Size (for download): 9.2 MB

The 101 sample applications that make up this book contain code that answers many common questions a beginner-to-intermediate-level Microsoft Visual Basic .NET developer is faced with when building Microsoft .NET applications.

Each sample application was developed using a set of coding conventions (which you’ll find in this book), and each sample shares a common look and feel, as much as possible. Each sample also includes a readme.htm file that explains some basics of the application in case you’re reviewing a sample without having the book close at hand.

The samples in this book are ready to be run in either the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003 development environment. You can find the Visual Studio .NET 2003 files in Chapter folders within the \101VBApps folder; look inside the VS2002 folder within the \101VBApps folder for the Visual Studio .NET 2002 files.

Finally each application is designed to be “F5-able,” meaning that they should all run out of the box, without any special configuration. Any circumstances for which specific software or setup is needed is fully documented in the readme. The only general requirement is that you have Microsoft SQL Server installed either as a default instance or an instance installed with the name NETSDK. You can easily install a version of SQL Server by installing the version of MSDE that ships with the .NET Framework quickstarts.

Explore 101 of the most useful Visual Basic .NET applications in action—and jumpstart your own Microsoft .NET Framework-based development projects. This guide provides expert, behind-the-code commentary on 101 fully executable code samples—distilling more than 700 hours of programming time into best practices for Microsoft Windows Forms development. Each code sample demonstrates core features and functions of Visual Basic .NET and the .NET Framework, explains the underlying programming concepts, and provides a complete code walkthrough. From creating basic data entry forms to drilling deep into the .NET Framework, you’ll learn the techniques that Microsoft’s own developers use to write real-world applications with Visual Basic .NET.

This three-volume encyclopedia is a comprehensive survey of the present state of knowledge and the research frontier in nearly every area of chemical physics and physical chemistry … The goal has been to make each article enjoyable, informative, and concisely relevant to its named topic. Inkspell - Read by Brendan Frasier

Quote:
This sequel to the successful INKHEART is equally compelling for young readers who wish the pages of a book could come to life. With an earnest desire to experience the excitement of life inside fiction, young Meggie secretly wrangles passage to Inkworld and quickly wishes she hadn't. Reader Brendan Fraser weaves the unfolding events in a hushed, contemplative undertone, almost as if quietly reading out loud to himself--a pitch suitable for this story-within-a-story. Fraser provides richly distinct voices for the humans, including Meggie's father, Dustfinger, reprised from INKHEART. But Fraser also provides sheer delight to the listener with sounds such as the twittering of fairies and the buzzing of bees. N.M.C. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine

Although a year has passed, not a day goes by without Meggie thinking of INKHEART, the book whose characters became real. But for Dustfinger, the fire-eater brought into being from words, the need to return to the tale has become desperate. When he finds a crooked storyteller with the ability to read him back, Dustfinger leaves behind his young apprentice Farid and plunges into the medieval world of his past. Distraught, Farid goes in search of Meggie, and before long, both are caught inside the book, too. But the story is threatening to evolve in ways neither of them could ever have imagined.

Top 100 Careers for College Graduates

JIST Publishing, Inc. | ISBN-13: 978-1-59357-318-8 | Author: Michael Farr | English | PDF (RAR Compressed)| 433 Pages | 6.50 MB

Introduction
This book is about improving your life, not just about selecting a job. The career you choose will have an enormous impact on how you live your life.
While a huge amount of information is available on occupations, most people don’t know where to find accurate, reliable facts to help them make good career decisions—or they don’t take the time to look. Important choices such as what to do with your career or whether to get additional training or education deserve your time. If you are considering more training or education—whether additional coursework, a college degree, or an advanced degree—this book will help with solid information. Training or education beyond high school
is now typically required to get better jobs, and the education and training needed for the jobs in this book vary enormously. This book is designed to give you facts to help you explore your options. A certain type of work or workplace may interest you as much as a certain type of job. If your interests and values lead you to work in healthcare, for example, you can do this in a variety of work environments, in a variety of industries, and in a variety of jobs. For this reason, I
suggest you begin exploring alternatives by following your interests and finding a career path that allows you to use your talents doing something you enjoy. Also, remember that money is not everything. The time you spend in career planning can pay off in higher earnings, but being satisfied with your work—and your life—is often more important than how much you earn. This book can help you find the work that suits you best.

The Natural Pet Food Cookbook - Healthful Recipes for Dogs and Cats

Wiley Publishing, Inc. | ISBN-13: 978-0-470-22530-1 | Author: Wendy Nan Rees | English | PDF | 130 Pages | 2.23 MB

Introduction
In the late 1960s and early ’70s, organic and all-natural foods were becoming commonplace in human diets. As we became more aware of what we were putting into our own bodies, it seemed only natural that we began to consider what we were feeding our pets. Little did I know that my first job, at the young age of 17, would shape the course of my life. My duties included taking care of the Goldstein family’s two girls and working four days a week at their Katonah, New York, store Lick Your Chops, one of the very first all-natural pet stores. Robert Goldstein was and still is a prominent veterinarian, now based in Westport, Connecticut. After 30 years in the holistic pet industry, Goldstein and his wife, Susan, remain pioneers in the field. Their book The Goldsteins’Wellness and Longevity has won numerous awards. What I learned in that summer of ’78 was the reason I started cooking for my pets. In 1985, I welcomed home my first puppy, a Chinese Shar-Pei. Six weeks later, he became very ill. Weeks of tests showed
that he was allergic to soy, salt, and preservatives. At the time I was in cooking school and newly married, but I thought, how hard could it be to create some food or at least a treat for my dog? To my surprise, learning the ins and outs took about 8 months; just figuring out how to make the treats crunchy without burning them was a challenge. Lip Smackers®, the people cookie made for dogs, was born, and so was my career in the pet industry. After graduating from cooking school, I started the company Lip Smackers and began applying everything I had learned while I worked for the Goldsteins. For example, they taught me that brewer’s yeast is wonderful for dogs; it helps bitter the blood to retard fleas. Since writing my first cookbook in 1991, I have been on a mission to teach people how to cook and care for their pets in a healthy, all-natural way, always keeping it easy, fun, safe, and practical. In 2007, for the first time we had a major pet food recall. This recall turned the industry upside down. Having lost confidence in pet food manufacturers, more and more pet parents are looking for healthy recipes that they can cook for their dogs and cats—like the recipes I have been creating since 1985. This book contains all-new, all-natural recipes. I have had the good fortune to work closely on this book with Kevin Schlanger, DVM, who is my own pets’ veterinarian. In addition to providing tips for you, Dr. Kevin has reviewed all the recipes in this book to make sure that they are safe for your pets.

Songwriting - Methods, Techniques

Foreword from the Book
Music therapists have always recognized songs and singing as one of their main approaches within their work. Along with improvisation, listening, composing and performing, songs have had their natural place in the music therapist’s tool-box as a way of expressing and performing aspects of oneself as part of a process towards better health. Butwhat about songwriting? Canwe say that the actual making of the song by the client or the process of co-creating a song together with the therapist has gained full recognition among the repertoire of methods in music therapy?

I can only answer for myself that after reading this book on songwriting, I must declare my own ignorance of what seems to stand out as one of the most powerful methods in music therapy.

Handbook of Marketing Decision Models

Marketing models is a core component of the marketing discipline. The recent developments in marketing models have been incredibly fast with information technology (e.g., the Internet), online marketing (e-commerce) and customer relationship management (CRM) creating radical changes in the way companies interact with their customers. This has created completely new breeds of marketing models, but major progress has also taken place in existing types of marketing models.

The HANDBOOK OF MARKETING DECISION MODELS presents the state of the art in marketing decision models, dealing with new modeling areas such as customer relationship management, customer value and online marketing, but also describes recent developments in other areas. In the category of marketing mix models, the latest models for advertising, sales promotions, sales management, and competition are dealt with. New developments are presented in consumer decision models, models for return on marketing, marketing management support systems, and in special techniques such as time series and neural nets. Not only are the most recent models discussed, but the book also pays attention to the implementation of marketing models in companies and to applications in specific industries.

Also to present the significant improvement in pointing accuracy of the antenna and telescope when the presented techniques are implemented.
